The Racine County District Attorney’s office has charged a 13-year-old boy with attempted first degree intentional homicide for an attack on an 11-year old girl walking home with friends from school this week.

The boy faces up to 60 years in prison if convicted as an adult — the charging based on state law for first-degree intentional homicide, including attempted, or second-degree reckless homicide on or after the juvenile’s 10th birthday.

The girl believes this was part of the bullying she suffered in school. The boy allegedly used a pocket knife to stab the victim in the chest and arm. His defense attorney will have a chance to argue for moving the case into juvenile court, following a preliminary hearing.
