A judge has ordered a Racine County man to stay off the Internet, after he put a false ad on Craigslist that claimed his neighbor was looking for sex. The neighbor didn’t know about the ad until at least three people knocked on her door, including one who was wearing only a jacket.
31-year-old Jason Willis said he posted the messages naming the woman as retribution for her making fun of him for having spent time in jail. Racine County Circuit Court Judge Alan Torhorst didn’t agree, ordering Willis to cancel his home internet system and sentencing him to two-and-a-half years of probation. If he’s caught online during the time, he could spend more than a year in prison.
Willis pleaded guilty last October to an amended charge of misappropriating ID information to cause harm to someone’s reputation.
