More than a dozen rivers in Wisconsin have flood warnings Thursday afternoon in the aftermath of heavy rain-and-snow the past couple days.

The National Weather Service expects major flooding in Portage along the Wisconsin River, and moderate flooding along the Wisconsin River at Rothschild and the Black River at Galesville and Black River Falls — which was five-feet above its flood stage earlier Thursday.

The Wisconsin River is under various types of flooding conditions between Merrill and the Castle Rock Dam in Juneau County.

Other flood warnings are out for parts of the Eau Claire, Chippewa, Yellow, Oconto, Big Rib, Little Wolf, Embarrass, Pecatonica, Fox, Sugar, and Baraboo rivers. They’re expected to drop below their banks anytime from overnight Thursday to well into next week.
