The Wisconsin Realtors Association is hoping a federal tax credit for first time home buyers will drum up some new business.
Association President Bill Malkasian says they're launching a statewide ad campaign to help inform the public about the $8,000 credit for first time home buyers, which is available for those who purchase a home in 2009. Malkasian says the campaign, which runs through October, will feature radio and Internet advertising, designed to get potential home buyers interested in the benefit.
The credit is available to first-time home buyers who have a income of no more than $75,000 for a single person or $150,000 for families.
Malkasian says realtors are hoping the credit will get buyers out looking this spring, and will help end slumping sales. Already, he says members have reported seeing more buyers out looking because of the incentive.
