cig.jpg More people than ever have been calling the Wisconsin Tobacco Quit Line. Dr. Michael Fiore, with the UW Center for Tobacco Research and Intervention, says about 39,000 smokers contacted the service, which provides them with help in kicking the habit. That's four times more than the Quit Line has received in any year since it was launched seven years ago.

Fiore says part of that success is the result of expanded resources now offered by the Quit Line. In addition to counseling services, a program launched this year that provide nicotine replacement medications to those hoping to quit. Fiore says those resources will be available into next year

Over 122,000 people have called the Quit Line in its seven year history.

The Wisconsin Tobacco Quit Line can be reached by calling 1-800-QUIT-NOW.
