A Wisconsin Congressman says a call to make some of President Bush's tax cuts permanent could face opposition.

Congressman Ron Kind says those tax cuts only benefitted the wealthiest Americans, those earning over $250,000 a year.

Kind says those cuts have not helped the economy and resulted in more families struggling financially.  He says so much tax relief has gone to just five percent of the population, which helped contribute to a rapidly climbing national debt.

Kind met with business leaders earlier this week in River Falls. He also addressed the future of a stimulus package working it's way through Congress. Kind says more is needed to get people back on their feet.
