Brett Favre ESPN.com is reporting today that former Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre had arthroscopic surgery on his shoulder injured right shoulder in an attempt to play for the Minnesota Vikings this season.  But the report says Favre remains unable to make a commitment because subsequent throwing sessiosn indicate the shoulder is not yet 100 percent.

The ESPN.com report says Favre began considering options to repair the shoulder last month when he sought advice from acclaimed orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews.  Favre and Andres reportedly discussed surgical and non-surgical options at that time.

ESPN sources say they believe Favre's ultimate recovery makes him a certainty to play for the Vikings, but would likely do so without any time in OTA's with the team.
