Nearly 95 percent of Wisconsin children currently have some form of insurance coverage. However, Governor Jim Doyle says a new report from the Department of Health and Family Services shows nearly 98,000 Wisconsin children have no coverage at all.

The Governor says the state has a "moral obligation" to make sure children have access to affordable health care, and he's hoping his new BadgerCare Plus initiative will make that available. Families will be able to sign children up for the program beginning February first.

Parents will be able to sign children up online or by calling 1-800-362-3002. Coverage will be available to families of all income levels, with premiums starting as low as $10 a month.
