One of the Democrats running for Wisconsin governor is far behind his primary opponent when it comes to raising cash for his campaign.
A report filed with the state Monday shows gubernatorial hopeful Brett Hulsey raised just under $2,500 in the first six months of the year. Hulsey, a state Representative from Madison, ended the reporting period with just $950 on hand.
Hulsey is running against Mary Burke in an August 12 primary. Burke, a former Trek Bicycle Executive and state Commerce Secretary under former Governor Jim Doyle, raised $3.6 million during the first six months of the year.
While Burke holds a cash advantage heading into the primary, incumbent Republican Governor Scott Walker far outraised all potential challengers for the November 4 general election. Walker reported raising $8.3 million between January and June, ending the period with $7.6 million cash on hand.
