None of Wisconsin’s 72 counties have fully recovered from the Great Recession. But four are close, according to a new report from the National Association of Counties, measuring jobs, unemployment, home prices, and economic output in almost 3069 U.S. counties. The report shows Saint Croix County meeting or exceeding pre-recession levels in all categories except home prices, with Chippewa, Calumet, and La Crosse counties recovering in all but unemployment rates.

Dane County – where gross domestic product never fall into recession and job numbers have recovered – was among nine counties recovering in half the categories, along with the Fox Valley counties of Brown, Outagamie, Winnebago and Fond du Lac. Milwaukee County was one of 33 recovering in only one category, and 26 other counties have not seen recovery in any of the areas tracked in the report.
