A Republican member of the Legislature's Joint Finance Committee is hoping for some compromise on the state budget.

Now that lawmakers have wrapped up public hearings on the governor's budget, the focus shifts to what will stay and what will be removed. Republican committee member Robin Vos (R-Racine) says the public wants changes, and he's hopeful the committee will listen to the citizens of Wisconsin and change the budget across the board.

Democrats in charge of the committee says they'll have more details in the coming weeks about how they plan to alter the governor's plan. Vos is hoping his party will have a say in that process, even though they are in the minority.

Vos says Republicans remain focus on preventing tax increases and pushing budget measures that will help to create more jobs in Wisconsin. He says they should be able to work with Democrats to push in the state in the right direction.
