The news that Wisconsin is getting hundreds of millions of dollars less in federal pandemic stimulus than originally projected doesn’t change Republican legislative leaders wish to discuss the money with Governor Tony Evers.

“We still feel that we would like the governor to meet with us, and talk about how the federal money’s going to be spent, so we can include it in our discussions on the budget,” Joint Finance Committee co-chair, Representative Mark Born (R-Beaver Dam) said Tuesday. “We have requested to meet with him, and so far he’s been unwilling to do that.”

Wisconsin will be getting $2.5 billion dollars in American Rescue Plan funding, in two payments a year apart. That’s $700 million less than an earlier estimate.
