U.S. Senate candidate Todd Akin of Missouri has until 5 p.m. today to drop out of the race otherwise a court order would be needed to remove him from the ballot. He’s under fire after saying women’s bodies can prevent pregnancies in cases of “legitimate rape.”
U.S. Senator Ron Johnson is among fellow Republicans urging Akin’s withdrawal.

Republicans are fighting to get a majority in the Senate. Johnson had endorsed the candidate who came in second in the primary, businessman Todd Bruner.
Akin has since apologized for the comments.
