so good! (1)Dozens of dogs and cats that were rescued from deplorable conditions at a Racine County shelter have been successfully adopted. The Wisconsin Humane Society held the event in Racine on Wednesday, finding homes for 62 dog and 8 cats.

“It’s really remarkable seeing them here, happier and healthy, and their going to these wonderful people who have turned out in droves today,” said Humane Society spokesperson Angela Speed. The owner of Orphan Kanine is facing dozen of charges of mistreating animals after more than 90 dogs, cats and pigs were seized from the shelter and two homes.

A 7-year-old pug named Patsy was the first dog adopted on Wednesday. She went home with Rebecca Beardsly of Slinger, who arrived at the temporary shelter at midnight to make she got the dog she wanted. “As soon as I saw the situation, and that the dogs had become adoptable, I knew this was the one,” Beardsly said.
