The sheriff in Rock County is discouraging frightened residents in the Town of Rock from arming themselves. Investigators are meeting three times a day, as they work to solve a triple homicide. Sheriff Bob Spoden says they think the murders were committed by one person, but are not ruling out multiple offenders.
The bodies of 38 year-old Danyetta Lentz and her children, 17 year-old Nicole and 14 year-old Scott, were found in their mobile home south of Janesville on Friday morning. Spoden says the investigation is a high priority has some advice for concerned residents. "Arming oneself, or putting a loaded gun under your pillow, really isn't the thing that's going to keep you safe," Spoden says. "What's going to keep you safe is to let us know any information that you have that's going to be relevant to this case."
Spoden says the sheriff's department is getting help from area police; detectives from the Janesville and Beloit departments will be conducting interviews.
