The Wisconsin State Fair kicks off today with it a return of its longest selling item, the cream puffs. On average 350,000 are sold at the fair each year.

It’s expected to be a clear weekend at the fair but spokesperson Patrice Harris says rain or shine people turn out for the world famous cream puffs. Last year the fair was plagued with a rainy opening weekend but still churned out 345,000 of the sweet treats. At peak times, an average of 52 creampuffs are being sold a minute.

If eating them is not enough and you want to see how they’re made, that’s also an option. “You can go in the Original Cream Puff Pavilion and see the operation through the big glass windows,” says Harris.

For those worried about watching their weight, Harris suggests walking around, dancing to the live music and participating in fair activities to help burn those calories.

The event runs until August 15th in West Allis.
