The budget the Governor is scheduled to submit to state legislators next week is expected to bring back an automatic gas tax increase, and one state lawmakers is scratching his head over the prospect.

State Senator Glenn Grothman (R-West Bend) says it's only been three years since Wisconsin did away with the system, after Governor Doyle signed the legislation to end the automatic increase in gas taxes on April First. Grothman says voters were angry with the law that had been in place for almost two decades and he thinks they'll be upset when it returns.

The Governor is expected to submit a budget bill to legislators this month that would restore indexing, and Grothman expects it to pass.
