No children were hurt, but a River Falls school bus is a total loss after it unexpectedly caught fire Thursday morning.
Police says the bus driver was doing his usual morning pickup and had about 40 elementary school students on board at the time. Everyone, including the driver, was able to get out of the bus without any injuries. The driver then went back into the burning bus to check between the seats for children. Police say the driver had to escape through the side emergency door.
School officials used a different bus to finish taking the kids to school, and also assisted students in contacting their parents to let them know everyone was alright.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
