The streets of Rock County should be a little safer, as the result of arrests in the federal Safe Streets Initiative. The results of an 18 month investigation into the sale of cocaine in Rock County were announced Monday in Beloit. Ten men from Beloit, Janesville and South Beloit, Illinois are facing federal charges. A federal grand jury has returned six indictments charging eight of the men, and two criminal complaints against the other two. The suspects were rounded up over the last four days, and police seized 500 grams of cocaine, valued at $10,000 to $11,000 on the street. The investigation, which included the Janesville and Beloit police departments, the Rock County Sheriff's Department, FBI and ATF, is continuing.
