Call one presidential candidate the six million dollar man. UW Stevens Point political scientist Ed Miller says there's no doubt that a little known Republican congressman from Texas is creating an enormous buzz, among people who've been willing to contribute to the Ron Paul presidential campaign. On Sunday — the anniversary of the Boston Tea Party — they poured $6 million into the Paul coffers, almost all of it through the Internet.

Miller expects Paul to do well in the Iowa caucuses, and with millions to spend on campaign ads, that could give other Republicans a run for their money. The $6 million raised by Paul on Sunday broke the previous 24 hour campaign fundraising effort, and came on the heels of a similar web-based effort which raised more than four million dollars on November 4th.
