CC Sabathia made two starts for the Milwaukee Brewers prior to the all-star break and according to plan, won both outings.
Sabathia went the distance, scattered 8 hits and struck out 9 to lead the Brewers to a 3-2 win over the Cincinnati Reds at Miller Park.
Sabathia (2-0) surrendered a pair of sacrifice flys to account for Cincinnati's two runs. He walked only one and got stronger as the game went along, striking out the side in the 9th.
Sabathia also homered to help his cause, while Craig Counsell's sacrifice fly won it in the bottom of the ninth.
The Brewers go into the All-Star break with a 52-43 record, the third best mark in the Central Division, 5-games behind the division leading Chicago Cubs.
