A new four-lane bridge across the Saint Croix River connecting Wisconsin and Minnesota is not expected to open now until the fall of 2017.

The bridge connecting Hudson and Stillwater, Minnesota had been expected to open by fall of this year. However, transportation officials from both states say bad weather, construction equipment breakdowns, and material shortages have delayed work on the project.

The project had an initial price tag of a $676 million. Officials are unsure how the delay will affect the final cost.
