The New Orleans Saints put up some big numbers offensively, but their
comeback effort fell short, falling to the Green Bay Packers 42-34 in the regular season opener at Lambeau Field.
Both quarterbacks were outstanding. Aaron Rodgers threw for 312 yards and 3 touchdowns, while Drew Brees was even better. Brees threw for 419 yards and 3 touchdowns.
But in the end, with the Saints driving in the final minute, they were awarded one final shot after an A.J. Hawk interference penalty in the end zone. But the Saints, trailing by 8-points, tried to run on the final play and rookie Mark Ingram was stopped short of the end zone.

The game had a little bit of everything. Rookie Randall Cobb returned a kickoff 108-yards for a touchdown, while Saints return man Darren Sproles returned a punt 72 yards for a touchdown.
Clearly, there was no Super Bowl hangover for the Packers offense. Now we’ll see if they can continue to put up big numbers in week 2. The Packers play next, at Carolina, a week from Sunday.
