Strong winds are expected today into early Wednesday in Eastern Wisconsin as the remains of Sandy, the east coast storm, rolls along Lake Michigan. Wind advisories are in effect along the lake from Door-to-Kenosha counties.

The Weather Service says the strongest winds will occur this afternoon, and will begin to diminish late today except at the northern tip of the Door Peninsula where strong winds can be expected until tomorrow morning.

Although the East Coast battering draws more attention to these weather issues, Rich Mamrosch with the NWS Green Bay office estimates wind advisories are issued about every other month.

Officials in Pleasant Prairie, south of Kenosha, have been urging residents of 265 waterfront homes to voluntarily evacuate.
