There’s been a surge of online business lately at the state DMV.
Kristina Boardman, who heads the Bureau of Field Services with the Division of Motor Vehicles, says more and more customers are hoping to avoid the service centers and are looking to the Internet to save some time waiting in line.
Among the most recent features added to online services is allowing duplicate drivers licenses and identification cards to be ordered. The online service started in May and, in just two months, the agency has issued nearly 4,000 drivers licenses and ID cards.
Boardman says it’s more convenient for customers and the DMV which, along with other state departments, has faced staffing cutbacks and other furlough days.
