A family who took the national center stage in a battle to keep their disabled daughter alive continues to fight amongst each other. The end of March was the fifth anniversary of Terri Schindler Schiavo’s death. Her parents and her husband Michael fought over a feeding tube that was keeping her alive. Michael Schiavo won the battle and had it removed.
Wisconsin Right to Life Executive Director Barbara Lyons says he has now accused Terri’s family of profiting from a foundation they started in her name. She says that’s not true. She says they’ve intervened for others in similar circumstances and worked with the foundation.
Lyons says much of the controversy over Schiavo’s care could have been avoided if she had a living will.
