The call went out Thursday afternoon that a man with a long gun, dressed in a black trench coat was on the Moraine Park Technical College campus in Fond du Lac. Similar drills are being conducted Friday at Beaver Dam and West Bend's MPTC campuses. A black trench coated gunman scenario drill Wednesday gave police and school staff a chance to practice procedures in a real life setting.

Fond du Lac SWAT Team Captain Jon Gutzmann says a few mistakes were made, but overall the exercise went well.

"We were unable at one point to actually get to the incident commander because of a locked gate, so we learned little things like that."

MPTC Facilities Associate Tim Flood was pleased that it took only three minutes from the time of the 911 call to total lockdown of the campus. Flood calls the response time "fantastic."

The shooter was community services officer Nick Booth who was given free rein to create the scenario.
