Major League Baseball commissioner Bud Selig says he won’t be extending his

stay as the head of baseball.

Selig was the keynote speaker on Wednesday at the Sport and Society Conference on the campus of St. Norbert College.

Selig was asked if he saw himself staying as commissioner beyond 2014 and he made it clear he wouldn’t be.

The 77-year old Selig has been commissioner since 1992, the second-longest tenure among the nine commissioners the sport has had.

Selig said wondered early on, when gross revenue of the sport was $1.2-billion in 1992, just how they would be able to grow to $2-billion.  Fast forward to 2012 and the figure is $7.5-billion and growing.
