The first of a series of seminars designed to educate the general public about “green” energy options kicked off this week. The low cost seminars from the Midwest Renewable Energy Association will lay out opportunities for using solar or wind energy in homes or small businesses.
Revamping an energy system may have a high price tag but there is long term savings says Joseph Schueller, MREA Project Coordinator.
“You only have to invest that capital upfront and depending on the kind of system it can pay for itself and actually begin to make you money as well.”
The three-hour seminars will also dispel some myths about renewable energy. Schueller says a common one is that windmills kill birds. He says turbines lead to a “minimal amount” of bird deaths especially compared to the more prevalent cell phone towers or tall buildings.
The non-profit is partnering with We Energies for the seminars which will take place in southeast Wisconsin and the Fox Cities.
