Senate Democrats weighed in on free trade Tuesday, prior to the day's major action, passage of their version of the state budget. A resolution from Green Bay Democrat, Sen. Dave Hansen, asks Congress replace the "Fast Track" system, so trade agreements are "developed and implemented using a more democratic, inclusive mechanism that enshrines the principles of federalism and state sovereignty." Minority Leader Scott Fitzgerald urged a "no" vote, but Republican Senators Mike Ellis and Dale Schultz joined Democrats in passing the resolution on a 20-to-11 vote. Two other GOP senators did not vote.
