Five former student-athletes and two special category honorees will be inducted into the University of Wisconsin Athletic Hall of Fame on Sept. 4 outside the Camp Randall Memorial Sports Center. 

Headlining the class of 2009 is one of UW’s two Heisman Trophy winners, Ron Dayne (1996-99).  Joining him are NFL lineman Joe Panos (1991-93), All-American runner Claire Eichner (1988-92), basketball player Robin Threatt (1988-93), and in the heritage category, baseball player Thornton Kipper (1946-50).

Soccer pioneer Bill Reddan will be honored in the coach/administrator category and Wayne Esser, the longtime executive director of the Mendota Gridiron Club is the Special Service honoree this year.

The 6pm ceremony will be open to the public.  A private reception for the inductees and their families takes place at 5pm.
