Many residents in four southern Wisconsin counties were unable to reach 911 emergency services for several hours Thursday, after a contractor cut a fiber optic cable and disrupted communications across the region.
Frontier Communications says the cut line, located near DeForest, affected 911 service for most of Columbia, Juneau, Adams, and Marquette counties. It also impacted the Wisconsin Dells area and interrupted high speed internet service as well.
Crews worked for about seven hours to repair the line. Frontier says all services were restored shortly after 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
