The Arizona Cardinals filled their head-coaching vacancy over the weekend but took a pass on former Green Bay Packers head coach Mike Sherman.
The Cardinals chose former Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt as their new head coach, the 8th head coach in Phoenix since the team moved their in 1988.
There were reports that the Cardinals wanted to hire Mike Sherman but couldn't agree to terms on a contract. The Cardinals denied those reports.
Sherman coached the Packers from 2000 to 2005 and is currently an assistant head coach for offense with the Houston Texans. Sherman and Whisenhunt were the only two candidates to receive second interviews.
