Why would this Temple be targeted?
Most of the men who attend this Temple wear beards and turbans. Dr. Sethi Manminder runs a dental practice here. “Even after 9-11 there were hate crimes. I think we Sikhs are being targeted for mistaken identity, otherwise we don’t have any conflict. We are just hard-working people.”
Sandy Khattra’s mother was inside during the attack. “She called me crying hysterically saying she saw my grandpa lying there dead, shot.”
Why would anyone attack this church? Khattra says, “I mean, I don’t know if it’s people that aren’t culturally aware. They might have, I mean, we do wear turbans so I don’t know if they thought we were a different religion.”
