Chippewa County authorities have arrest a 19-year-old suspect in a shooting, which interrupted a high school football game at Medford Saturday night.

Chippewa Falls High School and Medford were playing a makeup game when the action was stopped. Players and fans were taken to a nearby gymnasium for safety after police got a call about shots being fired at a home in the neighborhood.

The initial call came from inside the home. Authorities did not say how many people were inside the home, but they did confirm that no one was hurt.

Police used electronic tracking to find the suspect’s vehicle in a ditch. He was arrested and taken to the Taylor County Jail.

After a two-hour delay, the game resumed with Chippewa Falls defeating Medford Area in overtime, 22-14.
