The Fond du Lac police officer critically wounded in a shooting over the weekend is now out of intensive care. 33-year-old Ryan Williams was initially in critical condition after he was flown to a Neenah hospital with two gunshot wounds to the chest.
Dr. Raymond Georgean says Williams is alert and off the ventilator. He’s also able to talk and even eat on his own now.
Williams was shot while responding to the same call that claimed the life of fellow officer, 28-year-old Craig Birkholz. Williams K-9 partner Grendel was also shot, but is expected to recover.
Dr. Georgean says things are going so well that it’s possible Williams could be released from the hospital in the coming days. However, he says it’s still a very “day by day” situation.
