A new feature on the state's Sex Offender Registry website will help residents see how close they are to any offenders.

Department of Corrections Sex Offender Programs Director Melissa Roberts says a new mapping feature is being added to the online registry. It allows users to plug in an address and then see where any sex offenders are living within a five mile radius of that location.

Roberts says they're also expanding an e-mail notification list, which notifies residents when a sex offender moves in nearby.

Both features are being made available through a partnership with the " Family Watchdog " group. The organization already offered the tools on its own website. However, Roberts says the partnership will give them immediate access to any new information about the locations of sex offenders.
