A new online tool is aimed at helping shoppers identify dangerous toys on store shelves.
The site from WISPIRG contains tips for determining if a toy is safe to give to a child and links to a report that highlights some of the unsafe products on the market this holiday season.
WISPIRG director Bruce Speight says they’ve designed it to be easy to use by anyone who has a handheld device that can access the Internet, so shoppers can have the information right at their fingertips while in the stores.
Speight says the site reminds shoppers to watch out for choking hazards or toys that make excessively loud noises.
It also provides a way for consumers to report potentially dangerous toys to federal officials.
