There's not much to them, but the tiny French made, Mercedes designed Smart car is generating great big interest in Wisconsin. John Hogerty is executive vice president with Bergstrom Automotive Group, which has opened a Smart dealership in Milwaukee. Bergstrom has been promised about 300 of the tiny cars, and Hogerty says buyers are already lined up for all of them.
You'll pay between $12,000 and $17,000 for a Smart car. For that, you'll get a fuel efficient two seater that's just eight feet long. Part of the appeal of the Smart car, explains Hogerty, appears to be it's "Green" credentials: the factory and the car itself are built to environmental standards, as is the dealership. Bergstrom hopes to open Smart dealerships in elsewhere in Wisconsin locations, and Hogerty says Madison tops the list of locations.
