Stevens Point, Wisconsin native Chris Solinsky became the first American athlete to break 27 minutes in the 10K. Solinsky not only won the race and set the record, but he did so by roughly 14-seconds faster than the previous mark set by Meb Keflezighi.
Solinsky earned All-American honors four times at the University of Wisconsin. He graduated in 2007. Solinsky took fourth in the 2008 Olympic Trials and made his first World Championship team in 2009.
Solinsky is now the first non-African to break 27 minutes in a 10,000 meter event.
