At least two state lawmakers say they'll pass on a $2,500 pay raise next year.

State Senator Jon Erpenbach (D-Middleton) expects more will join him and state Representative Bob Ziegelbauer (D-Manitowoc), as the beginning of the next Legislative session approaches. However, Erpenbach says some newer members may have a harder time accepting the pay cut right from the start.

Erpenbach says it would amount to about $300,000 if all lawmakers rejected the raise.

The move is not new to the Middleton Democrat, who turned down a raise a couple of years ago, on the grounds that he doesn't accept them in the middle of a term in office.
