All four public schools in the Village of Somerset are on an external lockdown today, after district officials say a verbal threat was made on one of the campuses this morning.

District Administrator Randy Rosburg says the threat made inside an elementary school by an unidentified person and was directed at students. A staff member overheard the threat, and Rosburg says all schools were locked down shortly afterwards while police were contacted.

Somerset is located in St. Croix County, just across the state line from the Twin Cities.

Rosburg says they swept the buildings and parking lots of each school, giving each the all clear. Police are still maintaining a presence at all four of the district’s schools. Rosburg says they are running a normal school day inside the buildings and all evening activities will move ahead as scheduled.
