Much of southern Wisconsin is digging out this morning, thanks to a massive winter storm.

The storm dumped up to 14 inches of snow in some areas, with the highest total in the state reported in Pleasant Prairie in Kenosha County. Milwaukee broke a single day snowfall record with 10.4 inches, while the Madison area got hit with about eight inches.

The storm prompted snow emergencies in several communities, forcing vehicles off the streets so plows could get to work.

At least one death is being blamed on the storm. A 64-year-old suburban Milwaukee man with a history of heart trouble was found dead in his garage Sunday night, after shoveling.
