Tonight is important  for Wisconsin’s hunters and anglers. There will be public hearings on the Department of Natural Resources proposed rule changes, and annual meetings of the Wisconsin Conservation Congress, in all 72 Wisconsin counties. “Any citizen of Wisconsin, even people from outside of Wisconsin, are able to vote on Wisconsin’s fish and wildlife rule proposals,” said Kari Lee-Zimmerman, DNR liaison to the Wisconsin Conservation Congress. Those proposed rules include an increase in the legal size for musky from 34′ to 40′ statewide, and changes to the bag and size limit for walleye.

Residents of each county will also have the opportunity to run for the Conservation Congress, which acts as an advisory body to the DNR. And Lee-Zimmerman says that while the “hook and bullet crowd” tends to be in the majority at the Spring meetings, anyone interested in natural resources issues is welcome to attend, vote on the rules, and run for the Congress. A list of locations for all 72 county meetings, and a list of all questions,  can be found on the DNR website.
