St. Norbert College already has one of the top division 3 men's hockey programs in the country.  The school announced that they will add women's hockey as a varsity sport for the 2010-11 school year.

The school's athletic director, Tim Bald, will begin a national search for a coach immediately.  The coach will join the St. Norbert staff for the 2009-10 school year, allowing for a full year of recruiting.

The women's team will be a member of the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association.  The league consists of University of Wisconsin schools at Eau Claire, River Falls, Stevens Point and Superior, along with Concordia, Finlandia and Lake Forest College.  Adrian College and Marian University are joining the league next fall.

St. Norbert will have 21 varsity sports with the addition of women's hockey, 11 of the 21 sports are women's sports.
