For the first time ever, a major livestock auction at the Wisconsin State Fair can be viewed from anywhere in the state.

The Governor's Blue Ribbon Livestock Auction is going online this year. State Fair spokeswoman Patrice Harris says it was a natural step forward, as more and more people look online to learn about new things.

Bidding begins Wednesday evening and features livestock judged during the 2008 State Fair. Champion steer, sheep, and swine will be up on the block, with the reserve champions and others also up for bid. Bids will be taken online.

Harris says the online offering provides a great opportunity to see all the hard work done in youth agriculture. Proceeds from the auction have helped to support youth programs and scholarships across the state for 40 years.
