Testing done by the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) finds salmonella contamination in a spicy tuna roll and yellow-fin tuna, products that were recalled.
Officials say salmonella in the recalled samples matches the outbreak’s D.N.A. Wisconsin has had 15 confirmed cases of sickness since February, all in the Milwaukee area. In total, 160 people got sick in 20 states and Washington D.C.
California-based Moon Marine U.S.A Corporation (M.M.I.) voluntarily recalled the tuna which is not available for sale to individual customers. However, the product may have been used to make sushi, sashimi and similar dishes available in restaurants and grocery stores.
