There's plenty of help available to Janesville GM workers. Department of Workforce Development Secretary, Roberta Gassman, says the announced shutdown of the Janesville Assembly plant will impact other workers, as well. "We know that suppliers like Lear Corporation and Logistics Services in Janesville, as well as United Industries in Beloit," will be forced to lay off hundreds of workers in addition to the 1200 who will lose their GM jobs in December.

"We are going to have the team in place, to help those folks move on, get the supportive services they need, and hopefully get connected with their next job," Gassman says. DWD already has a Rapid Response Team in place in Janesville, and has just made additional state grant money available. That's in a addition to a $3.8 million National Emergency Response Grant.
