The Wisconsin Supreme Court will not consider overturning the convictions of a La Crosse County man found guilty in the death of his parents. The verdicts against Eric Koula will stand, and he’ll continue serving two life prison terms for the 2010 murders of Dennis and Merna Koula.

The 46-year-old Koula claimed that his trial lawyers failed him by allowing an improper jury instruction. Koula also said the trial judge should have allowed evidence to prove his innocence, and should have stopped jurors from hearing testimony about the alleged motive.

Prosecutors said Koula shot his parents at their home in the La Crosse County town of Barre in order to get a large inheritance, and that he planted evidence to throw off local-and-state investigators.
