Severe weather wreaks havoc to some properties just west of Wausau in central Wisconsin. “We have seven barns that were destroyed in the Colby area, which is in Marathon County. But fortunately no homes were destroyed and no reports of any injuries.”
Tod Pritchard with Wisconsin Emergency Management says there were also some scattered power outages. Pritchard is communicating with county and regional emergency management directors; he says his office has not yet had any request for aid.
The National Weather Service believes the damage was caused by straight line winds, but they are looking into whether it could have been a tornado.
Pritchard says there’s a dramatic change in temperatures. “Yes, we’re going right from almost summer-like into late fall in literally an hour or two.”
It’s a stark reminder that winter is just around the corner. Pritchard says now is a good time to winterize your vehicle and review your emergency supply kits.
